Happy New Year!
Blurghhh.. Some find some holidays more meaningful than others and for some weird reason, i have never viewed New Year's Eve as an important event. It has always felt like just another excuse for people to continue partying after Christmas. Not to say that i haven tried to be in the spirit of things.. but after getting crushed in the sweaty crowd during countdown and the nightmare encounters with inconsiderate people during such times, i began to feel that such attempts only served to let me start the New Year on the wrong foot. Hence, New Year's eve is just meh to me now.
But then Alvinna's msg came in and made my New Year's Eve! To repeat her well wishes (because i always sound like a complete moron wishing people Happy New Year),
"
This is a toast to us ladies for 2008! For the men have us, the losers who had us and the lucky guys who will still meet us! Happy New Year!"
And adding on other wishes we came up with in our MSN conversations..
May we have good looking and interesting lecturers!
May many hot exchange students come in this sem!
May we have many more "Hot Guy Days!"
May 2008 be the year in which we would finally fufill our desire to go the zoo!
and.. May our dissertations write themselves! :D
One of the few meanings New Year's Eve holds for me is that i'm always in debt by then. Thankfully, jie jie recommended me for a job. Was pretty tired for the first 2 days due to heavy lifting. One great thing that came out of this job is that i got to meet my sis's friend's sister, Olivia, and we managed to hit it off. If not for her, think that my face will be damn black and sian during the 1st 2 days... At least with her company, we can chit chat abt anything under the sun while sorting thru dusty papers/ pushing or lifting heavy boxes up! Plus all the laughter makes work so much more fun. So much so that if only one of us is allocated to do something, the task becomes a bit boring after a while cause there isn't any good company to talk to!
The allocated work is .. well.. minimal so most of the time, we just end up having a gossip session with the other temp, Corinna. Within 3 days, i think that we have covered almost every topic.. from celebrities to dogs to movies to scary movies to politics to boyfriends to neighbours... I've this feeling that by friday, we'll be super quiet liao!
We started trading "cold" jokes today. I tried to remember them all cause i just knew yuanjing would love them! During chomp chomp night, i repeated them to huili, jing xian and yj and.... tada! SUCCESS! hhahahaha! Though i don't think any of them can top the "ABCD" reaction from yuanjing, feel that the william joke was a very huge success! hahaha!
Oh oh oh! and integral to the fun i'm havin now is that sometimes, we lunch with our elder sisters who will intro us to many nice cafes which sell good and cheap food! And being the nice sisters they are, they'll pay for our food.. Good times indeed! I am indeed very lucky! :D
2008 looks set to be a good year already!
