Merry Christmas!

Ahhss Christmas! My fav holiday!

Never mind the crowds which you have to jostle your way around. Never mind the lousy help/ service one always encounters while shopping ("Is this mascara waterproof?" "It's smudge proof") Never mind the sea of dour Singaporean faces scowling at you when the MRT doors open.

Screw all that!

Every year, my family would celebrate Christmas in the same way. We would go to mass with the extended family of my mum's side. After mass, all of us would happily troop off to one of the relatives' hses (varies every year) and then we would tuck into a nice meal. The parents would place their presents for us under the Christmas Tree and pretty soon, the base of the tree would be too small to contain all the presents. Lol. Last year, the relative had a small tree placed on a table.. the tree was drowning in a flood of presents! hahahaha!

Naturally, the children (ahem.. including me) would be circling ard the tree, trying to spot presents with their name on it. Ard 11 plus, we would be begging the adults to let us open one present first.. just one present.. just for this year. Which would lead to a rousing and fun round of carolling (gotta work for those presents!) and then! Presents would be distributed and we would all fidget and wait impatiently for the clock to strike 12! Then the ripping would begin!

We started giving the other cousins presents a few years back and now our cousin pool has been increased by 4. Plus my own family members, the present count comes up to about 18 presents!

Hence, you would understand me feeling all smug and satisfied with myself when i thought that i had finished my Christmas shopping (within 2 days!). From my comfortable position, i was at liberty to sigh and cast looks of pity at harried shoppers. And i would warm the cockles of my heart with the knowledge that every present has been settled.

And then. the first bomb dropped. My cousin couldnt find presents for 3 people during her shopping trip in bangkok. BOOOM! After 2 panicked days, we finally got it settled and i was once again settling into my position of hahaha-i-finished-everything-lalalala! when the 2nd bomb dropped. My elder sis, Karen, and i had agreed to share the present for my younger sis, Audrey. Both of us thought tt the other sister was getting the present. So, none of us got it. BOOOOOMMM! die la die la. Lucky we were goofing around and she asked me whether i got it! Or else we would have discovered it during present opening time! The Horror of that moment... seriously sent chills down my spine!

In better news! My mom got me all excited for Christmas. With my not-so-subtle-hints ("I've been really good this year hor???"), she finally told me that my present is very big!!! wooott! Yes .. the kid is every one of us would agree that Size does matter! hmmm come to think about it, some people still do think size does matter in other aspec ..... wait! i'm supposed to be good.

I digress. So.. Now, im wondering whether i should search the huge pile of presents for any of mine! My parents often hide our presents cause we have gotten so good at shakin them and guessing what is in it (My elder sister is especially gifted in this), so i'm super stoked about tml!!

It can't come soon enough!

I am ashamed to say this..

But i watched "Hairspray" a total of 4 times over the weekend! And up to today.. their songs are still stuck in my head!Arrggghh! If it's not "i can hear the bells", it's "Without Love" or "You can't stop the beat". Of course, it does not help that Audrey has them on constant replay. Sigh. What can i say? "Hairspray" is my "High School Musical". It's ( "Hairspray not " High School Musical" ) just.. such campy fun with candy colours and upbeat entertainment! I love the setting, the songs and the lead actress! She's really good.. not going overboard with the cheesiness of it all yet letting you giggle at her expressions and innocence. And can i just say.. the dresses they wear are so cute! With the skirt fluffing out . Why don't we wear dresses like tt anymore? I actually fell so in love with the show tt i went to wikipedia the differences between the show and the musical! Hahaha! okay.. Now, i have to add "Watch Broadway's version of Hairspray" to my "Things to do before i die" list!

Christmas is just 5 days away but it sure started early for me! Had a "Naughty Kid's party" last Friday and wow! Can i just say how grateful i am to have such wonderful people as my friends? I was really worried about them getting bored at my place since there wasn't any games. But the mere company just kept the Christmas spirit alive!

Before the party, we aimed to capture the evolution process (succeeded?? sorta), get a few jump shots (failed!) and get as many pictures as possible (failed!). But we had so much fun catching up, eating up the many goodies (my table was groaning with the weight of delicious food), talkin about our primary school days, exchanging gifts... basically having a good time that we didnt manage to take many photos! I'm still waiting for some photos from Sherlin before i upload them up here. But it was really good and i'm just really glad that they had a good time! :D

Got a lovely pair of earphones (with control!), a nice handmade card complete with a box full of evil snowballs from my secret santa aka Jiahui! As if that ain't enough, she tells me that i've got a brand new RED ipod case coming my way! (the case didnt come in time so she had to get me the earphones!) wooohhoooooo! i feel so bad for making her spend more than neccessary but the dear girl refuses to take my half-sincere-half-insincere "no need la"! heh!

My sisters made up a batch of mini cupcakes. I did the decoration of the sprinkles!

But! in the spirit of the holidays, i decided to make it more Christmassy!

If you squint hard enough, you can make out the words the cupcakes spell out! Can you see it??? :D my mom can't! boooooooo!

I have just discovered a new show. A show that is dunked in all sorts of awesome. A show that i should share with the world. A show called "Pushing Daisies". A show starring the man of my dreams, Lee Pace/ Ned! One big ol cup of sexy served there!

Not to mention how he and the girl are just sugary sweet and have my cynical little heart grinning at every ending of the show! The show is surprisingly funny with many layers of meaning.. and the setting! A recapper said that it looked as if we were living in a betty crocker box and i totally agree! It's CGI- enchanced and the colours remind me how i imagined willy wonker's factory to be (which i may add, is not like the movie version at all)!

So much love. I wish the higher executives would give the writers what they deserve already. Writers need to be credited for creating and writing such wonderful multi dimensional and lovable characters and damnit! Viewers need their shows! Dexter season 3 has been stalled!! *insert scream of horror*

So! with the exams out of the way, it was time to pay a visit to T3! not T3 the pimple cream but T3 the airport Terminal 3. I was hugely excited at the whole prospect of it all because a little birdie told me that there would be an ice skating rink there (lie!). Nonetheless, it was pretty good spending the day with the family :)

Here's a preview of what's awaiting us come jan 2008..

The arrival hall where locals wait:
Check in area:

Yeah, i have no idea what this thing is for. It looks like someone started the whole "he loves me, he loves me not"on a fan only to abandon the task at the last minute. Nevertheless, we took a photo with it..

Okay.. so i threw this shot in cause i liked the sight of big macaroons.. Building students might remember the lighting system of Changi airport considering how some lecturers waxed eloquent lyrics on the subject. Here's the cause of their euphoria!

While the normal people go "huh?"

The check in counters had trial bags sitting ard.. I do wonder where they are planning to keep the bags after T3 is off and running.

It is a lovely design but somehow, i get the feeling that the visual that i'm entering a spaceship moments before i get onto a plane will not soothe my anxiety about travelling.

And we agree that the following sign is a bit outdated, yes?

The viewing gallery:

Koi pond at the viewing gallery:

There are plans for a butterfly park on the balcony of the viewing gallery.
Examples of shops in the departure lounge:

Arrival/ Immigration counters:

Luggage claim area:

And why is Penny hugging Christine??

Why? to welcome her back, of course!

Watering of the green wall via mist

Remember the telephone string? Where you connect two cans together with a string and then talk into it? The generation of Audrey and Angel find a modern version of the telephone string.
The seats were really comfortable as they mold to ur body posture. So we started hanging around there.

And with that, we ended our tour of T3 and proceeded on to Ikea for lunch and a little shopping. All in all, it was a good day. :)

Pssst! : A little reminder for anyone who wants to view the inside of the departure lounge. They close the area at 2 p.m. for a transits so you have to get there in the morning.
