ok. so i broke my rule of not surfing blogs before exams. I can't help it! it's the kaypoh instinct in me!
Anyways, i happened to see Alvinna's blog. and Alvinna, you really need a tagboard!
Since she doesnt have one and has disappeared into her little enclave to mug for exams, im just gonna respond to her post here. I don't know if i'm responding in the right way but here goes!
Dear Alvinna,
Let's just say i would
much much prefer eating halal food when i can enjoy your company than to eat non-halal food without the pleasure of your company!
Love, adel
Heh. Maybe i'm weird but i love the whole mix of cultures. I like understanding why my muslim friends can't do certain things. It's a very strong representation of their religion and it's truly admirable. Or how my indian friends prefer not to eat beef. It's amazing how one seemingly simple symbol can mean so much in a whole other culture. That's why i love living in Singapore. If you think about it, it's pretty amazing how so many ethnicities with different cultures can manage to co-exist in a small area while other countries have not been successful. Not only do we get to learn about the rich variety of customs and culture out there, we get to know people who live and practise them. And through observation and talks, i get to (somewhat) live that culture through them(tt explains my frequent questions!). Now, how cool is that?
My main point is that by befriending people like Alvinna, Asilah, Sangeetha, Ramesh, Neela, Lalitha etc. i get the lovely package of knowing
awesome people and getting to live another culture through them. Instead of forcing/inconveniencing me with their way of life, it's something i want to experience. :)
Right, i had better step off my soapbox now. It's 2.33 am and my con mno notes are still freshly white. Have i mentioned that my brain feels like there's a blinking light going "info overload! info over load! System hang!"?
Today, i realised why this exam feels so weird. I haven asked Guo An anything... yet! heh!
PS: i forgot to say i love halal food anyways!
