oh gosh.. i just talked to ting online.. and read her email and promptly burst into tears! it has been near 2 months. homesickness is plenty abound now. right now.. im reallie sick of burgers and fries. how can the americans take it? i have a chinese lunch sometimes and i still refuse to eat more than 4 burgers a week! how can they have tt for every meal? egad.

i miss my family.
i miss jill. oh god. i miss doing so many things bout my home girl i shall not even attempt to list them!
i miss ting and her whining! and all the bitching and meetin ard serangoon gardens...
i miss pei and her sarcasm. and her raised eyebrow.
i miss neela and her sharp tongue. and her squeaking
i miss those tummy ache laughing we always do when we are together.

i miss mel and the actions tt come along with her.. especially how she acts when she is excited!
i miss singapore food.
i miss chilli. my supply ran out.

as u can tell from the photos i posted below... i went to catch the NBA FINALS! NA na na na na NA na na na na na na na !!!! *dances ard* it was so friggin cool! ok i caught game 6 not game 7.. it was san antonio's spurs vs the detroit's pistons and held in san antonio which is a 4 hrs drive from houston. i have never been a big basketball fan.. i mean.. i played in SGSS team and all but i prefer(red since i dun play sports much now) to play it myself than watch other pple play. but.. i though about it long and hard(for like 5 mins? heh!).. this is an opportunity of a lifetime! how often is it for me to be in the same area as the finals... and have the same off day as the game and happen to be going into that city? i won't watch another NBA game live for a long time so this was an opportunity of a lifetime.. besides i wanted to experience the atmosphere.. the cheering and the thrill.. the same kind we used to have when singapore played in the malaysia cup!
the tickets were a bit expensive( we bought them on the very same day) but im tellin you, they were worth it! worth every single penny! as soon as we got in.. you could just feel the excitement. spurs fans were all around us.. a few brave piston's fans came in their jersey.. i actually feared for their lives! going into the enemy territory! of coz there were a few jests made at the detroit fans. like there was this cool jazz band playing as we queued up to go into the stadium. the lead singer started chantin "go spurs go!" into the mic and he would push the mic into fans' faces for them to repeat after him.. imagine the detroit fan's face when the mic was pushed into his face!
the first 1000 were given long balloons to clap and make noise with.. there was so much cheering. everytime the detroits had the ball.. the big tv screen would flashed the word "DEFENCE" and the music would change so tt the crowd can chant in unison "DE- FENCE" and as soon as the spurs got the ball.. the music would change to a lively beat and the crowd would chant "go spurs go!" to the beat! for 3 whole hours! imagine tt! during a time out.. the back crowd starting doing human waves... they had entertainment for the time outs like fans playing games to win stuff and all! during halftime, they had frankie j and baby bash come out to sing! i nearly fainted when i heard one of my fave songs! pity we were outside buying souvenirs!

anyways.. both teams were evenly matched so it was an exciting game from start to end. everytime the spurs sunk in a 3 pointer, everyone would jump to their feet and dance ard (ok.. maybe.. only i did the 2nd part).. and when the pistons came back with another 3 pointer, you could feel the crowd's diappointment when they sat back down. it was nail biting tension! towards the end.. the crowd was just jumping to their feet at any basket made by the spurs! the score was often evenly tied .. like 77 - 77. 79-82. scores like that! my fren describes it really well. the whole entire game was like a 3 hr rollar coaster ride which grips you from start to end.. what a heady ride!

the spurs fans were simply fantastic! they came dressed in black and white/silver.. on our way to the stadium, we saw so many signs supporting spurs.. there were so many vehicles decorated with spurs flag(s).. under several store's signs.. they hung signs tt said "go spurs go".. on a fence.. huge individual lettering spelled out "go spurs go". adn the most obvious one was a flag hung on a crane which was on a building site near the stadium! of coz it was amusing to see fans shouting instructions to the players.. until i became one of them! heh! there were pokes at detroit fans.. like there is a kiss me cam during one of the time outs.. if the big ass tv screen in the middle shows you.. you have to kiss the person next to you.. at the end.. they showed the spurs mascot sitting next to a detroit fan in his jersey. and the spurs mascot kissed him and promptly pretended to clean out his mouth. then at the beginning of the game.. the tv flahsed to a signs tt spelled out GO PISTONS. i assumed that they were brave travelling pistons fans.. but during a time out.. the mascot went to smash each sign to the sound of orchestra music. unbelievable huh?

the experience was simply.. well.. i dun regret spendin money on this. i may have to cut down my shopping and increase my work hours.. but i feel that it is worth it. reader digest once said tt if you had to choose to spend money between a vacation and a tv, they would encourage you to go for a vacation as people in a study felt that their experience was much more enriching than material possessions. well.. same goes.. this is forever etched in my memory. this time.. shopping can wait. shirts can grow out of fashion, be torn, thrown away.. but i would forever cherish this memory! and proudly say i went to a NBA final!!!!!!

i got a rather nice pin to put on my green bag and a black beaded necklace which i use as a bracelet now! (can u spot it in my photos?) so all was not lost for shopping!!

daughter : I didn't cost anything!
father: HOOOOOooooo! YESH you did!
daughter: no i did not!
father: trust me you did.. you can go ask Dr forman
daughter: who is Dr Forman?
father: the doctor who brought you into this world. ask her. she would know tt you did not come for free!

the conversation continues.. but it's funny! the father winked at me as he said all these!

many fathers here are pretty cool.. and funny! like when the kid wants sprite.. and the dad wants coke.. they will dismiss the kid by sayin.. "they dun sell sprite here" and if the kids is clever enough to point out the logo of sprite they will tell the kid that sprite has been sold out! bwahahahahahahah
sometimes when a kid asks for ice cream, they say "can i please have an ice cream?" and their fathers will say.." no.. you have not been nice all day!" while takin out money to pay for the oice cream!

hey.. i was just vending some frustration out in my last post.. nothin much lahzz.. was just a bit irate tt day coz i hade several difficult customers giving me a hard time.. yeahzz.. Generally, the people here are pretty okay.. i guess you have to give them several days before they warm up to you.. i only have 2 off days a week.. and after workin hard for like 5 days.. was plannin to stay at hme and "nua".. but NoooooOOOOOOOO... the rest were adamant on GOING BACK to the very same park where we work to ride the rides.. *GROAN* i mean.. yeahz.. i wud like to ride the rides at all.. but can we do it on another off day? coz im sure am sick of the park for now! anyways... we went.. and i finally managed to ride the serial thriller.. my first time going onto a rollar coaster tt goes upside down! bwahahahahaha.. needless to say.. i screamed all the way! sucked in a lot of air! after tt we went off to texas cyclone..which was reallie good.. lasts for one minute.. and boy! there are so many downhill curves.. i was pretty freaked out.. the thing is /... i got reallie irritated and frustrated (maybe not enuff sleep) coz the frens i was with kept on going on and on aboutmy screamin.. coz i screamt all the way.. it was okay for a while then it started gettin on my nerves.. as me mama likes to say "nothing good to say, say nothing" but i shall twist it and use this "nothing else to say coz you have not enouff grey matter, no need to keep on harpin on something." joke's over. not funny anymore.. get.over.it. seriously, fuck off.
it was at tt moment my heart ached for the company of you guys! somethimes, i feel tt the people here with me.. are reallie upholding the image of asians being anal and all... gosh manz.. i have to refrain frm using fuck and stuff like tt.. sighzzz

jilllllllllllllllllll............ am sulkin coz missing me bestie too! you noe.. yesterday as we weere walkin towards the park.. all the girls.. took out umbrellas to walk in the sun.. haiz. i felt damn sad then. coz tt was the exat same time we wud do the sun dance!

i got meself to be always on the drink cart so i will work alone... as in.. i will be one of the people selling drinks outside.. it is actually quite nua.. save for standin on your feet for 7 consecutive hours.. but i hate the carryin the cartons of soda bottles towards my cart.. they are HEAVY! picture carrying 24 coke bottles at once. yeahz.. and do it several times.. yep! plus about 4 cartons of bigger bottles of water! back breakin alright! and when i come back frm break.. still have to wash all the buffet trays.. gosh!

when ifirst came here, i thought tt i wud be the only brave soul who would be crazy enough to sign up for this program alone.. but it turns out. in my grp of frens..at least 5 of us signed up with no friends.. and what they said was true lahzzz.. if you come here with a group of frens.. u wud be less inclined to be open to new friendships.. like there is this bunch of 5 girls who signed up for it together.. up to today, i have not seen any of them.. and the poeple they work with still do not know their names...

houston is great so far.. hard, physically tiring work.. but i guess you can say.. overall.. nothin bad has happened... yeahzz.. its a new experience lahz.. but i do miss you guys.. okok gonna sign off here to check me email box.. hope to see you guys on MSN soon!
